Molly goes to work in the corn field caring Blue Jay on her back. When she hangs Blue Jay up in a tree she runs away. Little Turtle catches up with her and takes her to a river and plays with her. She returns to Shagbark and he makes her a ladle with a bird on it. She returns to her master and goes to bed. The next day it rains on the crops.

Molly had a perfectly normal life until one day Indians raided her house and took her captive. Her parents were left and killed. She travels to Seneca town where she is a slave. The Indians raise her and take care of her. one day it is discussed that they were going to move to the rest of their tribe. After two days of walking they got to the rest of their tribe. Now she was Red Squirrel's slave. One day her fellow captive escaped.
